Informations générales

Since 15 years ago Ebri Knight have nurtured and spread our project of roots folk music and political stance throughout hundreds of village squares and festivals all over the country as well as abroad. We have always stood for self-management as a crucial tool to maintain creative freedom as well as dignify our artistic work.

Today the cultural scene and especially the world of live music find themselves at a critical juncture because of the Covid-19 pandemic’s present and future restrictions. Many artists find ourselves in an extremely tough spot, filling the networks with culture and digital shows and yet without any chance to get paid to play for an audience. We have seen our earnings plummet and the whole Ebri Knight project as well as all our plans for 2020 have been seriously jeopardized.

Of all these plans, the most important one is our 5th studio album, that we have been working on for over half a year and is now in production. Ebri Knight have always financed our records and productions with the earnings from our tours. We never found it necessary or proper to involve other people or companies in these processes. However, we now find ourselves in a do-or-die situation: no concerts means no album.

Caractéristiques principales

Ebri Knight’s new record is being produced by ourselves with the inestimable help of Mark Dasousa from Atomic Studio, a joint path we started with the La Voz Dormida EP. It sees the band take one more forward step in its musical evolution: on the one hand we explore new sounds and formulae, yet as always we will keep our feet firmly grounded on the rhythms and melodies that give our music its unique flavour. As for the message, the record stays on the rebellious path of fighting that sets Ebri Knight apart and is an indispensable part of who we are.

On the design front we will be working with the studios Hodo and Smoking Signals, with whom we have collaborated at length in the production of the videos and graphic designs for Vientos del Pueblo, Viva La Quinta Brigada and La Voz Dormida.

This campaign, however, is not being set up merely to finance the new record’s expenses. The viability of the project goes beyond this: two years ago Ebri Knight became a cooperative through which we are fighting to try and leave behind the precariousness that’s inherent to the world of culture and to bring the values of solidarity-based social economy to the music industry.

We are aware that this campaign must materialize a product -the album- but each contribution you make, whether big or small, will actually serve to keep Ebri Knight working and making music. And for that reason, even if each contribution has its rewards, there is a trust element at play here that we will never be able to thank you enough for.

Pourquoi est-ce important

Over the 15 years that we have been playing, we have understood that there isn’t a line or a border that can demarcate our audience. For some it’s about music, for others it’s about the message and for others the live experience is the whole point. From Barcelona to Hamburg we’ve seen you dancing and jumping around; you have reached out to us from Russia to Chile through the social networks. Throughout our land and beyond we have met people and groups who have lent us a hand because we share this conviction that music is a catalyst for change, a tool to fight fascism and bring our worlds together. This campaign is for all of you: all those who have some time raised your fist with us, enjoyed our company, been moved in our shows.

We’ll be honest: Ebri Knight needs you to keep going and to release one more record, and in exchange we can only promise one thing: we’ll work our asses off, as we always have, so that the reward -both the physical one and the intangible one- will be worth the wait.

Expérience antérieure et équipe

Ebri Knight is a band with a long road behind us and many a fight to our name. Over 500 concerts and all these years of touring have given us a wide, global perspective over our sector, as well as a work ethic and a set of values that we deeply believe in: social responsibility, environmentalism, holding assemblies, etc. This whole philosophy and approach to our work lead to the creation in 2018 of the Folk You cooperative, aiming also at being able to self-manage our jobs and fight against the precariousness of the sector.

Over these years we have published four studio albums, a live album and a themed EP about the Spanish Civil War. All these projects were the result of great efforts, time and economic resources, all derived from the shows we have been playing through the years.

There are six of us onstage, but many more people help keep Ebri Knight alive. We are Arnau, Albert, Laia, Toni, Alba and Toti, but also Marc, Carbu, Pol, Sofia and Carla, who accompany us on all our shows. Also Sergi, Jordi, Tindari, Jesús, Sandra, Emilio, Javi, Jorge, Cristina, Àlex, Iratxe and Igortz, who give us a hand from their offices so we can expand in all directions as much as possible. And Markel, Hodei, Xabi and Mark, who we can always count on to help us make our vision come true.
