Informations générales

Paramythádes is an artistic project (dance, theatre and music workshops) aimed at refugee children and teenagers with the goal of offering them room for freedom, expression and creation.
Specifically, it will be developed in two camps at the north of Greece (Macedonia) during the first two weeks of August, and it is based on three disciplines of the performing arts: theatre, dance and music.
On the one hand, the workshops as well as activities of exhibition for all kinds of public will be offered. Besides, a theatre training for the rest of the community of young refugees who want to develop at a later stage the tasks of monitoring with the children we will have previously carried out will be offered.
Based on our experience as professionals of the performing arts, we want to do our bit. First of all, in person and in a direct way while we are at the camps this summer and, secondly, carrying out a training and generating documentation so as the activity can be continued beyond us.

Caractéristiques principales

The name of the project Paramythádes (Παραμυθάδες) is a Greek word that means “storytellers” or narrators. It is based on three disciplines: theatre, dance and music, aimed at refugee children and teenagers.
Words can heal. This is not only said by us, the people of theatre and narrators, but it is also said by the basis of psychoanalysis. Stories can help get over traumas, not only for the one who tells them but also for the one who listens to them.
Theatre is a territory that can help people get over fears and difficulties, express emotions and feelings. A symbolic game that allows us to interact with others from a protected perspective. A game where we think, feel and act without the fear of making mistakes, a rehearsal that prepares us for thinking, feeling and acting in life.
Dancing is one of the most beneficial activities for the body. Not only because of the physical exercise, but also for its positive effects on the immune system.
Music can modify our mood. We can enjoy it without the need for a translation. It goes beyond borders.

Pourquoi est-ce important

This project is aimed at refugee children and teenagers a the camps of Greece. In the humanitarian drama of the refugee people, children and teenagers are one of the most vulnerable groups. Many of them have crossed the borders leaving behind their family, home and friends, others have lost everything during the way, for this reason we think it is essential to pay them full attention.
The reason to develop this project specifically has been to be able to do something for this group of people on the basis of our capacities, skills and experience, as we are professionals of the performing arts.
Besides, as we were thinking and developing the project, one of the aspects we wanted to favour was that the project goes beyond the people who have started it. For this reason, we are preparing a pedagogical dossier and we will carry out a theatre training during the two weeks with the community of refugees so that they can continue with it.

Objectifs de la campagne de crowdfunding

Goals
Offering room for freedom, expression and creation to the children and teenagers who are at the refugee camps, which allows them to recover for some spaces of time from the harsh reality they are living. Offering theatre, music and dance activities that amuse them and which, in addition, help them express and face their fears, strengthen their self-esteem, which is harmed by their condition of refugees.
Giving the children and teenagers tools through gesture, music and theatre as a means of expression.
Influence the improvement of everyday life of the refugees: in a direct ways for the children and teenagers, and in an indirect way for the community of refugees.
Developing an artistic project beyond the people that have outlined it and will carry it out, so it has its own life. For this reason, we wish to:

  • Offer the young population and with a university education an education or training of two weeks as volunteers with tools for them to be able to carry on the project when the team is no longer there.
  • Give the possibility to other volunteers to carry on the project at a later stage beyond the ones who have prepared and started it.
