Christmas is gone! :)

We hope you all enjoyed this days a lot.

We wanted to have the minis ready for this date and we almost made it but the terms for managing the case manufacturing, packaging and shipping were too tight and we have rather wait after christmas.

Anyway, we have good news and things to show you.

Mini version PCBs (now renamed as “mini slim”) arrived at the beginning of the month. As you can see in the main picture of this post... the finishing is awesome! We are more convinced than ever that changing the components to SMD was a good idea.

We have had enough time to manufacture a few cases for the mini slim version and to check that everything fits perfectly. You can see a couple of them on the photo slide above. We are using two colors for the acrylic upper piece: black and white. The lower piece will be transparent. We will contact the backers for this versión soon to know which color do you prefer for your controller.

The silicon rubber pads still in fabrication and we only know what manufacturer tells us. It seems they have the molds ready but “the final report on the first elasticity tests was not good enough”. The last thing we know is that they have to “adjust and repair the molding tools”. We hope to get news from them before the end of the year. Among the selected images for this post we have added a snapshot of the mold sent by the manufacturer.

On the other hand, we keep developing the Slim and Slim Pro versions. The last design has two built-in microcontrolers on the board. One ATmega32U4 as master and one ATmega328 as slave. We will use one to manage the screen reflesh and the other to manage the communication. In this way, the resources will be more efficient. In short... ¡it will rock!
